Mr. John H. Mendenhall Jr. age 61 passed from death into life eternal on April 16th 2014 and is now at rest with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
John was born January 29th 1953 to John H. Mendenhall Sr. and Bettye Collins Mendenhall in Guilford County. He graduated from Ledford High School and Davidson County Community College. He was employed by Davidson County Planning and Zoning Department as a Zoning Officer for 30and half years. He also served as Secretary to the Zoning Board of Adjustment..
John was a faithful and active member of Sunny Side Baptist Church where he also served as a Trustee. He was a tender, loving, faithful  husband, father and friend. His steadfastness, calm and loyalty to all his family and friends will be forever missed in this life.
Awaiting his arrival was his precious son, Matthew Glenn, whose life was so richly blessed by the dedication, commitment and love of his Dad and now are reunited forever. Also preceding him in death was his father John H. Mendenhall Sr.
On July 24th 1982, John married the love of his life the former Sandra (Sandy) Watts, his devoted wife of 32 years. Also surviving  is his mother, Bettye C. Mendenhall of Thomasville, brother, Mark Mendenhall and wife Teresa of Thomasville. John considered his wife’s family, Marvin Watts and wife Carolyn of   Thomasville, Ronnie Watts and wife Jean of Lexington, NC. And a special sister in law Nancy Watts Byrd of High Point,NC. To be like brothers and sisters of his own.
Also surviving are several aunts nieces and nephews.
John dearly loved his 4 legged best friends (German Shepherds) Keeper, Andy, Sugarfoot and  Sheebie.
Funeral Services will be conducted Thursday at 2:00p.m., from the Chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service on Eastchester Dr. by the Rev. Hoyt Mason and Rev. Rick Shoemaker. Interment will follow in the Floral Garden Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 until 8p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Marvin and Ronnie Watts, Joshua Mendenhall, Roger McMahan, Alan Dills and William Morton.  Honorary Pallbearers will be employees of Davidson County Planning Department.
