Rodney Jahu Welborn

Rodney Jahu Welborn, age 66, a resident of Archdale, passed away Monday, April 14, 2014.

He was born on May 21st, 1947 in Guilford County, NC ,  to the late Jahu Wellborn and Ruby Kivett Welborn and had been a resident of the Archdale area all of his life. He worked for Henderson Machine Company, and retired after 40 years of service.  He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps, serving in the Vietnam Conflict.  Rodney was a lifetime member of Welch Memorial United Methodist Church and attended as long as his health permitted.  He was an avid fisherman and was a member of the One Bass Club. Rodney enjoyed deer hunting, carpentry, gardening, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.

Surviving are his wife of 24 years; Vickie Paul Welborn of the home, his step-son; Jason Micah Everhart of Thomasville, his sister; Joan Younger of Archdale, his brothers; Reverend Wayne Welborn and his wife Karen of Kansas City, MO, and Merle Welborn and his wife Beverly of Trinity. Also surviving are his step- grandchildren; Dylan, Skylar and Carson Everhart and a number of nieces and nephews.

A service to celebrate Rodney’s life will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock at Welch Memorial United Methodist Church, with Reverend Wayne Welborn officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday from 12:45 until 1:45 p.m. in the Richardson Lounge at the church.
