TRINITY- Barbara Harper Barber, 87, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 23, 2024.
She was born on September 23, 1936, in Guilford County, the daughter of the late Leon and Mildred Robbins Harper. A resident of this area all her life, she was a 1954 graduate of High Point High School and a 1957 graduate of High Point College. She taught in the Randolph County School System most of her 33 years, having last taught at Braxton Craven Elementary School. Her love for teaching and her students, combined with her dedication to fostering a love for learning, left an indelible mark on those she taught. Many former students said she was strict, but fair and have gone on to be successful, crediting her guidance and mentorship. She was a longtime member of Fresh Life Church, formerly New Covenant Church of God. Barbara’s true love and passion was spending time with her family; especially traveling with her late husband, Grady, to different parts of the country. She will be remembered as a Christian woman, with a loving and compassionate heart, who loved her Lord, her family, her friends, and her students and will be dearly missed. In addition to her parents and her husband, preceding her in death was her brother, Butch Harper.
She is survived by her son; Steve Barber (Linda); her sister, Margaret Byerly, sister-in-law Nancy Harper and two nephews.
A service to celebrate Barbara’s life will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 30, from the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale, with Pastor Brad Thomas and Pastor Riley Puckett officiating. The committal service will follow at the Mausoleum in Floral Garden Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends from 9:45 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. Saturday, at the funeral home.
