Carol Elvie (Davis) Mabe

ARCHDALE – Mrs. Carol Elvie Davis Mabe of Archdale passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2018, at High Point Regional Hospital at the age of 73 after a brief illness.

She was born November 3, 1944, in Higdon, Alabama, the daughter of Worth English Davis and Lexie White Davis. After attending Ragsdale High School in Jamestown, she studied at Guilford Technical Community College and worked many years as a bookkeeper at several local businesses. She retired from Router Bit Service Company, Inc., in High Point. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, going to the Archdale Public Library, painting, and taking trips to the beach whenever she could. More than anything else, she treasured time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.

On August 4, 1962, four years after they met as teenagers, she married the love of her life, Bobby Gene Mabe, who survives of the home.  Also surviving are two daughters, Suzie Mabe of High Point and Lorie Mabe McCroskey and her husband, Bobby, of Archdale; four grandchildren, Billy West and Maggie Collins of High Point, and Priscilla McCroskey and Jack McCroskey of Archdale; one aunt, Sallie White of Higdon, Alabama; two uncles, Jay White of Glendora, California, and T.C. White of Higdon, Alabama; and several cousins and other relatives. She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends, but most of all by her devoted husband, Bobby, who called her his “Number One Girl” and was by her side until the very last minute.

The funeral will be Friday at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Cumby Funeral Home in Archdale. The family will receive visitors from 12:30 to 1:45 immediately preceding the service.
