Welcome to the memorial page for

Carole (King) Womble

September 17, 1942 ~ December 16, 2017 (age 75) 75 Years Old

Sue Carole King Womble, 75, died on December 16, 2017 after a lengthy fight with cancer.  She is now at peace and resting in her eternal home.

Carole was born in Forest City, NC on September 17, 1942, to the late James Thomas King, Sr. and Wilma Stalnaker King.  Also preceding her in death are her brothers, James Thomas “Tommy” King, Jr. and Robert Alvin “Al” King and her sister, Martha Ann Roach Novack.  She has one surviving brother Rudolph Lee “Rudy” King of Dunn, NC.

Carole graduated from Cool Springs High School in Forest City, NC in 1960.  She attended Western Carolina University for one year and then worked in the Psychology Department while her husband finished his degree.  She worked briefly in the office of Slane Hosiery in High Point and in the library at Freedom High School in Morganton and volunteered many years in the public school systems in High Point and Morganton, NC.

Carole loved caring for her family and home and that was her priority.  She always had an immaculate house both inside and out and loved working in the yard and spending time watching the deer that often visited.  She was a wonderful cook and baker and especially enjoyed making treats for her family and neighbors at Christmas.

While being a member of First United Methodist Church in High Point, Carole sang in the choir for many years.  She volunteered at The Parson’s Table run by the church each year during the furniture market, from the program’s inception until recent years.

As a wife to Samuel Wilson Womble, III for over 55years, Carole was devoted and loving.  She did an exceptional job raising her two children, Bradley Stevens Womble and Julie Womble Hofmann and loving their spouses, Carol (Brad) and Richard (Julie).  She was immensely proud of her six grandchildren, Wilson Bradley Womble and wife Megan, Davis Reid Womble, Maxwell Emmett Hofmann, Samuel Griffin Hofmann, Rachel Kathryn Hofmann and William Thomas Hofmann,  and was thankful to have lived to see the birth of her first great-grandchild, Mason Henry Womble.

To honor the life she lived, there will be a memorial service on December 20, 2017 at 11:00am at First United Methodist Church, 512 North Main Street in High Point, officiated by the Reverend Debra Swing.  A receiving of friends and family will be at the Epworth Room following the service.
