Edith Savannah (Carter) Henley

Mrs. Edith Savannah Carter Henley, 94, of High Point, passed away Sunday, July 16, 2017, at High Point Regional Hospital.

Born April 3, 1923, in High Point, Edith was the daughter of the late John Stephen and Etta Carrick Carter. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, William Lester Henley, sister, Edna Sherrill, and two brothers, Elmer Carter and John Carter, Jr. Edith was a graduate of High Point High School and Ashemore Business College. She retired from Mobile Chemical (Valspar) after 31 years of service. She was also a licensed Real Estate Agent. She was a member of First Wesleyan Church, where she attended the Co-op Sunday School Class and was active in the Wesleyan Care Group.  She was a member of the Green Street Baptist Church Sunshine Club, a former member of the Furniture Capital ABWA, and former volunteer at High Point Regional Hospital.

Edith is survived by three sons, Larry Williamson and wife, Judy, of New London, Barry Williamson and wife, Rosemary, of Thomasville, and Ron Williamson and wife Donna, of Stoney Creek; six grandchildren, Brian Williamson (Janet), Chris Williamson (Tracey), Heather Lowe (Jeramy), Craig Williamson (Tammy), Stephanie Jolly (Scott), and Michelle Wrenn; 12 great grandchildren, Brooke, Rachel, Jacob, Jackson, Blake, Trey and Brady Williamson, Tori and Josh Lowe, Cameron and Madison Jolly, and Dakota Barfield; two sisters-in-law, Louise Carter and Elizabeth Brown; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be 2:00 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale, officiated by Rev. Dr. Roland Cavanaugh. Entombment will follow in the Floral Garden Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends Thursday night from 6 until 8 at the funeral home.
