Edith Mae Smith

Ms. Edith Mae Smith, 93, of Archdale passed away Thursday, October 5, 2017 at the Hospice Home at High Point.

Born February 27, 1924, in High Point, Edith was the daughter of the late Grover and Nellie Patton Smith. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by an infant sister, Estelle Smith, and eight brothers, Tommy, Lester, E.J., G.C., Howard, Clayton, Clell, and Winford Smith. Edith was a member of Congregational Christian Church in High Point and was retired from Adams Millis Hosiery.

Edith was a wonderful sister and like a mother to all of her nieces and nephews. Her love for her family and sense of humor will be missed. She loved to bake and share with others her homemade bread, butter, cakes and pies.

Edith is survived by her sister, Mildred Smith; four sisters-in-law, Mary Jean , Norma, Nancy, and Jeanenne Smith; 20 nieces and nephews, and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale, officiated by Rev. Mark Smith. Interment will follow in Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
