Welcome to the memorial page for

Ellen (DeHart) Hines

January 3, 1947 ~ October 16, 2017 (age 70) 70 Years Old

Mrs. Ellen DeHart Hines, 70, formerly of Jamestown, passed away Monday, October 16, 2017, after being in declining health for the past two years. She was born in Tusquitee, NC, to Ben and Alice DeHart. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Bennie Hutchinson, as well as her beloved husband of 50 years, Barry. Barry and Ellen were a perfect example of what marriage was supposed to be. They loved each other more than life itself and we are now rejoicing that they are together again, this time for eternity. Ellen is survived by three children, Rick Hines of Uwharrie, Kristie Hutchinson and husband, Chris, of Denton, and Beth Roberts and husband, Drew, of Asheboro; as well as five grandchildren, Zachary and wife, Hannah, of Morrisville, Hailey and husband, Bradley, of Alabama, Adam, Charlie and Ella; and a brother, Gene DeHart and wife, Bonnie, of Nantahala. She was also loved by many family and friends.

Ellen retired from American Furniture Manufacturers Association in High Point, where she served as the Executive Secretary for 36 years. She attended Bales Wesleyan Church, where she had served in different aspects for many years when her health had allowed it. Most days, Ellen could be found spending time with her family, organizing her jewelry, or shopping with her girls. Those who knew Ellen knew that she was full of spirit and love for her family and friends. She loved to travel and would be ready to go on a moment’s notice. She loved going to the beach and just reading a magazine and relaxing, whether she stepped foot in the sand or not.

She was an amazing Mom and Mammaw and made sure that her family knew she loved them “more”. She was known for her cooking, but especially her homemade biscuits. She always had food on the table and a smile on her face when it came to her family.

Funeral will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, at Bales Wesleyan Church, officiated by Rev. Carl Pulliam. Interment will follow at Mitchell’s Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday night from 6 until 8 at Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale and other times at the home of her daughter Beth’s home, 2286 Jerico Rd. in Asheboro.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Community Home Care & Hospice, 533 S. Fayetteville St., Asheboro, NC 27203.
