Evelyn Wood Smith

Evelyn Wood Smith passed away peacefully on June 9, 2017. She was born January 3, 1921 and was a native of High Point, NC. She was married to the late Charles Holton Smith for 61 years. Evelyn was devoted to her family. 

She retired from Sara Lee Sock Co. after a long and successful career working in textiles from her early years. Evelyn lived a very long and full life.  Her greatest loves were cooking, Coca Cola, telling stories, traveling and shopping with the ones she loved, and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her son Jeffrey Holton Smith and wife Betsy A. Smith, her niece Kathy Lynn Burton, her granddaughters Sarah S. Beaston, Martha S. Parrish and Lizzie Smith, two great grandsons Bradford L. Parrish and George D. Beaston VII, her great granddaughter Ryland E. Beaston, and her sister Betty Lucas who loved her dearly. 

Funeral services for Mrs. Smith will be held 11:00 am Tuesday in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service with the Reverend Chris Thore officiating.  Interment will follow in Floral Garden Memorial Park.  The family will greet friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
