Welcome to the memorial page for

Frances Ellen (Pratt) Kiser

December 5, 1920 ~ April 20, 2017 (age 96) 96 Years Old

Frances Ellen Pratt Kiser went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at Alexandria Place in Gastonia, NC.

Frances was born on December 5, 1920 in Greenwood, South Carolina, daughter of the late Lilla Dean O’Dell Pratt and Hal Moseley Pratt.  After moving to Mt. Holly and then Belmont, she graduated from Belmont High School, attended Sacred Heart College and later Livingstone College earning a degree in social work.  She was a homemaker for many years, then worked for 17 years at Wesleyan Arms long term care facility in High Point, NC, retiring as an administrator.

Frances was an avid reader, even as a young girl.  She always loved her family and cherished her parents, six sisters, one brother, and her two daughters, Elaine and Alice.  She spent most of her adult life in High Point where she was a long time member of Greenwood Hills Wesleyan Church. She formed strong bonds with dear friends at church and in the High Point community and was an “adopted mom” to many who knew her.  Fran loved being the grandmother of Alice and Jim’s daughter, Cameron, who lovingly called her Gran Fran.  They shared a special bond that Frances treasured all her years. Frances spent her final few years in Gastonia and attended First ARP Church where she was welcomed, cared for and loved by family and new friends.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents, two daughters, Alice Wellman and Elaine Kiser, her sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Powell (Audie), Lilla Dell “Sister” Setzer (Weston), Ethel Rhyne (Marshal), Bessie B. Stowe (Henry), Dorothy Nixon (Nick), Hal Causby (Tommy) and her brother and sister-in law, John Pratt (Carol).

Survivors include her granddaughter Cameron Wellman Wood and husband Andy, two great grandsons, Brandt Andrew Wood and Asher Reid Wood, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Frances loved the Lord and found much strength and comfort from Him throughout her life.  She was always encouraging others and was ready to share a bible verse or offer a heartfelt prayer. She will be greatly missed by many but is surely now enjoying being in the presence of her revered heavenly father.

The family would like to thank the staff at Alexandria Place for the special love and care provided to Frances during her stay at the home.
