Gladys Overcash Coltrane

THOMASVILLE- Gladys Overcash Coltrane passed away on Monday, May 22, 2017.

She was born in High Point, daughter of the late William and Kate Powell Overcash. A resident of this area all of her life, she was a graduate of Trinity High School and later attended Brice Business College, where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. Gladys worked as an Optometrist Assistant for Dr. Nat Walker, Dr. Lee Wheeles and Dr. Paul Thomas, and retired after 32 years of service. She was a member of Archdale United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Adult Fellowship Class, and was a member of the Living Life Seniors at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church. She was a former member of the ABWA with 25 years of perfect attendance.  Gladys volunteered with the American Red Cross, volunteering regularly at their annual Blood drives. She was a loving mother and grandmother and she will be dearly missed. In addition to her parents, preceding her in death was her husband, Harold Coltrane and her sister, Adrienne Wooten.

Those left to cherish her memory; are her son, Bill Coltrane and his wife Deborah and her grandson, Brandon Coltrane.

A service to celebrate Gladys’ life will be held on Friday, May 26, at 11 am, in the Mausoleum Chapel at Floral Garden Memorial Park, with Reverend Harold Shives officiating. The family will see friends one hour prior to the service on Friday at the Mausoleum Chapel.
