HIGH POINT – Henry Greely Jennings, 85, passed away July 19, 2017, in Memphis, Tennessee.
He was born August 5, 1931, in Portsmouth, Ohio, and was the son of the late Francis Xavier and Sarah Duffy Jennings and lived in High Point for much of his life. He was retired owner and operator of Jennings Veneers and had previously worked as manager of Mann’s Catalog Store and Eckerd’s Drugs in High Point. He was U.S. Marine Corp veteran during the Korean War and was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. Everyone will dearly miss his gentle laugh and kind spirit.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death on July 11, 2017, by his wife of 55 years, Marjorie Heatherly Jennings; a daughter, Frances J. Parker; a son, Steven Jennings; and a sister, Mary Ann Hohman.
Henry is survived by a brother, Thomas D. Jennings of Hampton, VA; two grandchildren, Michael and Sara Parker; a son-in-law, Robbie Parker, all of Memphis, TN; daughter-in-law, Theresa Jennings; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family will be on Saturday, July 22, 2017, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church with the Rev. Thomas P. Norris, OSFS, officiating. Graveside service will follow at 2:00 PM Saturday at Floral Garden Park Cemetery.
