Hester Hurley Kennedy

Hester Hurley Kennedy, 89, of High Point went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, February 5, 2018.

Hester was a member of Whispering Hope Baptist Church in High Point and she loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, her family and gospel music.

Hester was born in Murphy, NC on April 19, 1928 to the late William Monroe Hurley and Elizabeth Palice Wilson Hurley.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 23 years, Elgin Leroy Kennedy, a son; Joseph Gerald Watts, brothers and sisters; Julia Passmore, Loyd Hurley, Victoria Watts, Nellie Watts,  Margie Grant, twin brother, Chester Hurley, Emily Iva-Lee Hurley, Bass Hurley, Dessie Hurley, Fred Hurley and Harley Hurley.

Those who will cherish her memories are her children; Douglas Elgin Kennedy and wife, Laura of Archdale, Kathy Kennedy Prince of High Point, her brother; Rev. Jack Hurley Sr. and wife, Carolyn of Thomasville, grandsons; Christopher Kennedy, Jason Kennedy, Jonathan Kennedy, Tyler Prince, Timothy Kennedy, Austin Prince and a special friend; Joe Rich.

A service to honor Hester’s life will be held 2:00pm on Friday, February 9, 2018 at Whispering Hope Baptist Church 300 E. Springfield Road in High Point with Reverend Jeff Morgan and Reverend Jack Hurley, Jr. officiating.  Burial will follow at Lebanon UMC in High Point.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00pm on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at the Cumby Family Funeral Service 206 Trindale Road in Archdale.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the doctor and staff of Hospice Home at High Point for their excellent care to their mother.
