Howard Richard Nichols

Howard Richard Nichols, 82, of High Point passed away at his residence on Friday, October 6, 2017.

Howard was born September 1, 1935 in Williamson, WV to the late William “Bill” Nichols and Doris Reynolds Nichols.

Howard was a faithful member of Trindale Community Church and served as an usher.  He was a Christian man who had a happy, joyful spirit and was known as a jokester. He enjoyed playing the guitar and fishing.  Howard was employed over the years at Myrtle Desk and Lowes Hardware.  He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by brothers: Robert A. and Charles David Nichols and sisters: Doris Mae Griener and Nancy Sue Swarthout.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of 40 years, Geraldine “Gerri” Gibson Nichols of the home, sons: Matthew W. Nichols of MA, Richard David Nichols of MA, daughters: Robyn Cornelius of MS, Iris Ann Ruiz and husband, Peyton of MS, sister: Essie Dawn Sparks of High Point, grandchildren: Maegan Harder and husband Chris, Danielle Cotton and husband Ryan, Christopher Cornelius, great grandchildren: Charlotte Peyton Cotton, Liam Richard Cotton due in 2018, special nieces and nephews: Sharon Gibson, Sheena Osborne, Miranda Gibson, Robert Sparks, Philip Nichols, Robert A. Nichols, Jr., Jarrod Swarthout, Ian Cormack, Michael Griener, Doug Griener, Richard Griener and special cousins.

A funeral service to honor Howard’s life will be at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service 1015 Eastchester Dr. in High Point, with Rev. Ottis Collins officiating. Burial will follow at Lebanon Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 pm on Tuesday night at Cumby Family Funeral Service 1015 Eastchester Drive in High Point.
