Irene Gelpi Small

Irene Gelpi Small, 88, passed away August 10, 2017, in Charlotte, NC.  She was born August 31, 1928, in New York City and resided in High Point for 66 years.  Irene worked in the High Point School System Cafeteria for 20 years.

She was a devoted mother and an outgoing, generous person who enjoyed singing with the Happy Tones where they sang at the White House, the Biltmore House and other places.

Irene is survived by two daughters, Linda Small Seligman, and Deborah Small Marks, both of Charlotte; three grandchildren, Shannon Small Kimmons and husband Shorty of Trinity, Jessica Marks of Chicago and Ross Marks of Alabama; and four great grandchildren, Brandel, Jaxon, Palmer and Eli.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Alex Small; and her daughter, Judy Gail Small.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 15, 2017, at Cumby Family Funeral Service, beginning at 1:00 p.m. until the funeral service at 2:00 p.m.  Interment will be private.
