Janet (Rogers) Allen

Janet Rogers Allen, 80 of Trinity, passed away Wednesday, September 6, 2017, at Hospice of the Piedmont in High Point NC.

Mrs. Allen was born in Davidson County on February 13, 1937. She was the daughter of the late Ralph Lee and Edith Hunt Rogers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Huston Rogers and her sister, Betty Sue Delk.

Janet was a creative entrepreneur who devoted her talents to the various companies she operated. Those included Rogers Finishing Company, inherited from her father, Little Egypt Pool Company and Jordan Valley Poultry Farm. Janet was a remarkable woman with an incredible sense for business.  A woman ahead of her time, whether operating a backhoe for a pool installation, sewing upholstery or meeting an executive to discuss furniture finishes, Janet was truly gifted.  She was an accomplished artist, jewelry designer, devoted mother and an avid reader of history and biographies. Her main focus in life was always centered around her children, encouraging their independence and creativity.

On February 13, 1954, Janet married Charles Allen who survives of the home.  Also surviving are four children, Cathy Allen Boggs and husband John of Cary NC; Rickey E. Allen and wife Kathy of Trinity NC; C. Lee Allen and partner JP Kilkenny of High Point NC; and, Christy Allen Cox and husband Michael of Trinity NC; six grandchildren, John Boggs II and wife Patti; Catherine Boggs; Christin and Kali Cox; Courtney and Ashton Allen; a brother Donald L. Rogers and wife Peggy; and, her aunt, Hope Gonzalez, who was actually more like her sister.

A long standing member of Trinity Baptist Church, her funeral service will be held Saturday, September 9, at 11:00am, officiated by Rev. Morris Little and Rev. J.C. Alley.  Interment will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery in Thomasville.  The family will receive friends prior to the service at 10:00am.
