Jean (Calvert) Farlow

Mrs. Jean Calvert Farlow, 95, of Archdale, passed away Sunday, July 2, 2017, at the Hospice Home at High Point.

Born May 18, 1922, in Walsall, England, Jean was the daughter of the late James Penrose and Emily Wilson Calvert. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Noel Lee Farlow, her sister, Irene Alcock, and her son-in-law, Thomas Welch. Jean was an active member of Marlboro Friends Meeting, and was retired from the American Friends Service Committee. She was involved and volunteered with various organizations throughout the community. She enjoyed knitting, quilting and painting. Jean was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, and will be missed by all who loved her.

Survivors include four children, Diane Welch, of High Point, Christopher Farlow and wife, Susan, of High Point, Susan Brewer and husband, Adrion, of Wallburg, and Jonathan C. Farlow and wife, Lori, of Archdale; seven grandchildren, Jim Farlow and wife, Julie, Jennifer Gonzalez and husband, Javier, Russell Farlow and wife, Jennifer, Jason Welch and wife, Yami, Dustin Brewer and wife, Caroline, Emily Haynes and husband, Dylan, and Caleb Farlow; seven great grandchildren, Isabella, Sophie, Genevieve, Adeline, Marlin, Ellarose, and Thomas; and two nephews, John Alcock and Chris Alcock, both of England.

Funeral will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, at Marlboro Friends Meeting, officiated by Pastor Ray Luther. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the Family Life Center.

The family wishes to the thank Dr. Cory Sessoms and staff of High Point Regional Hospital, and the nurses and staff of Westchester Harbour and Hospice of the Piedmont for the care and support shown during Jean’s illness.
