Joseph "Joe" Franklin Coltrane

Mr. Joseph "Joe" Franklin Coltrane, 92, formerly of Archdale, died March 23, 2024, at Piedmont Crossing in Thomasville.

He was born June 10, 1931, in Randolph County, a son to Joseph L. and Eva Jones Coltrane.  As a resident of this area all his life, he was a member of Archdale Friends Meeting and, in earlier years, was in the agricultural supply business.  Later, he spent years dairy farming before eventually working in real estate.  On April 14, 1949, he married the former Mary Evelyn Wright, who preceded him in death on June 7, 2021.  His sister, Joyce Smith, and brothers, Horace, Richard and Gene Coltrane, also preceded him in death.

Surviving are four sons, Joseph Clark Coltrane (Denise) of Archdale, Michael Coltrane (Kathy) of Lexington, Gregory Lee Coltrane (Pam) of Auburn, AL, and Joel Scott Coltrane of Bluffton, SC; a sister, Becky Coltrane of Archdale; seven grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 3, at Archdale Friends Meeting with Rusty Parsons and Ben Hurley officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the meeting fellowship hall.  Memorials may be directed to Archdale Friends Meeting at 114 Trindale Rd. Archdale, NC 27263.  Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale is assisting the family.
