Joyce James Skeen

HIGH Point- Joyce James Skeen, 85, passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2017.

She was born on May 24, 1932 in Watauga County, NC, to the late Jesse and Lula Matheson James. A resident of this area most of her life, she was a member of Christ Gospel Baptist Church; where she was a member of the choir and the Ladies Circle. She enjoyed in previous years riding motorcycles with her late husband, Charlie, and being a member of the High Point Couples Motorcycle Club. She also enjoyed bowling; but her true love and passion in life was spending time with her family, her church family and her friends. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother and she will be dearly missed. In addition to her parents and her husband, preceding her in death were; 2 brothers and 3 sisters.

She leaves to cherish her memory; her children, Brenda Huffman and her husband, Tim and Mike Skeen and his wife, Barbara; her grandchildren, Angela Hunt and her husband, Brian, Kevin Huffman, Chris Skeen and his fiancé, Amanda, and Jennifer Skeen; her great grandchildren, Damian Williams, Noah Hunt, Madden Huffman and Kopeland Huffman. Also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews.

A service to celebrate Joyce’s life will be held on Thursday, October 19, at 11 am, in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale, with Pastor Tim Huffman, Reverend Harold Shives and Pastor Bobby Loving officiating. Interment will follow in Springfield Friends Meeting Cemetery. Her family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 18, from 6 until 8 pm at the funeral home and other times will be at their respective homes.
