Lennie Malone

Mr. Lennie Malone, 91, resident of High Point, died October 2, 2017 at High Point Regional Hospital.

Mr. Malone was born February 20, 1926 in Moore County, a son to the late Airone and Gladys Mashburn Malone.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and Navy and later was a resident of this area most of his life.  He was a longtime member of Trinity Heights Wesleyan Church and was the owner of Malone’s Appliances, a washer/dryer repair company.  He was a lover of animals, especially his dog, Lucy, and three cats, Jasper, Lucky and Blackie.   He also enjoyed exercising and visiting with his many friends at Heart Strides.   On May 12, 1951 he married the former Katie Wallace who survives him of the residence.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by eight siblings, Barbara Lopossay, Betty Aycock, Lorraine Mench, Cecil Sjoblem, June Malone, Eugene Malone, Gary Malone and Polly Landreth.

Also surviving are two daughters, Brenda Malone of the residence and Phyllis Lopez and husband Mike of Thomasville; a sister, Catherine Wright of Snow Camp; four grandchildren, Melody Barto and husband Robert of Archdale, Joseph Lopez of Greensboro, Nicholas Lopez of Charlotte and Cameron Lopez of Asheville; and two great grandchildren, Fleming and Sophia Barto, and many loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday at Trinity Heights Wesleyan Church with Rev. Crawford Crenshaw officiating.  Interment will follow at Floral Garden Park Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale.  Memorials may be directed to Trinity Heights Wesleyan Church, 5814 Surrett Dr. Archdale, NC, 27263 or to the Guilford County Animal Shelter, 4525 W.
