Macie Still Callaway

Macie Still Callaway, 94, of 512 Florham Drive, died July 23, 2017, at Hospice Home at High Point.

Macie Ailene Still was born July 6th, 1923 in Graceville, Florida to James Johnsie and Minnie Bell Still.  She married Bennie D. Callaway Dec. 21, 1941, and after his service in WWII, moved to High Point in 1949.  Macie was an active member of English Road Baptist Church where she was a member of the Ready Class. She was employed many years as a knitter at Triangle Hosiery Mill and in later years worked within the furniture industry.

A consummate cook, her house was often filled with family and close friends sitting around the table enjoying a wonderful meal.  The same table often used for jigsaw puzzles and losing to her at Dominoes.  She loved telling stories, laughing, and sharing company.

Surviving are two daughters, Ann Mabe and her husband Jack of High Point and Janice C. Cox of Greensboro; a grandson, Scott Shoaf and his wife Christa; a great-granddaughter, Lucy Shoaf; a step-grandson, Mark Mabe and his wife Cathy; her sister, Syble Earnest; her daily jigsaw puzzle companion, Donna Snipes; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July, 26, 2017, at Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point.   Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 27, 2017, at the funeral home.  Interment will follow at Floral Garden Park Cemetery.
