Marilyn (Shepard) Young

Marilyn Shepard Young, 81, died Monday, July 17, 2017, at Adams Farm Living and Rehab Center.

She was born February 16, 1936, in Oradell, NJ, and was the daughter of the late Ralph Coggeshall and Evelyn Hiler Shepard.  She attended Parson’s School of Design in Manhattan and attended Catherine Gibbs Business School.  She worked as an administrative assistant and had a great passion for art.  She was a devoted mother and an outgoing, gregarious, and generous person who enjoyed sharing her gift of hospitality with dinner parties and community gatherings.  No matter her life circumstances, she always maintained a positive outlook and a loving spirit.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Ladd Young; and a granddaughter, McKanna Young.

She is survived by two daughters, Janet Cecil (Jeff) of Greensboro and Linda Stokke (Peter) of Water Mill, NY; a son, Jeffery Young of Florida; and four grandchildren, Kirsten Stokke, Jennifer Stokke, Peter Stokke, Jr., and Elena Cecil.

Memorial service celebrating Marilyn’s life will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, July 29, 2017, in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point.  The family will speak with friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.
