Marjorie Miller Plott, 85, of Greensboro passed away unexpectedly on Saturday morning February 18, 2017 at Moses Cone Hospital.

                Born May 5, 1931, in Glens Falls New York to Paul Louis and Marjorie Miller Dyer, she graduated from South Glens Falls High School in 1948.  She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1954 from Hartwick College School of Nursing in Oneonta NY.  She returned to school when she was 50 to receive her Master’s Degree in Public Health from UNC Chapel Hill.

                Marge was employed for 20 years in the hospital setting and 20 years in public health nursing.  She was awarded the First Virginia Public Health Nurse of the Year award presented by then Governor Charles Robb.  She retired as a Regional Nurse in 1995.

             She loved her church, Fairfield United Methodist where she was active with the choir, United Methodist Women, visiting shut-ins and doing odd jobs to support her church family as needed.  She also volunteered regularly for the American Red Cross and gave generously to many charities. 

                Marge was married to Joseph William Plott in 1955 and had 3 children.  She was predeceased by her parents; her husband Joseph; son Paul; brothers Paul and Richard; 2 sisters-in-law, Patricia and Ellen.  She is survived by 2 daughters, Patti Lynn Evans and husband Tim, Laura Ione Patteson and husband Steve, both of Greensboro; 2 brothers, James Dyer of South Glens Falls NY and David Dyer and wife Caryl of Lexington; 6 grandsons, Matthew Gundaker and wife Tracey, Evan Page, Mark Evans, Trenton Patteson and wife Kristen, Joseph and Daniel Patteson and one granddaughter, Samantha Patteson. She is also survived by 3 great grandchildren, 5 nieces and 3 nephews, and her beloved dog Tanner.

              A service to celebrate Marge’s life will be held on Wednesday, February 22, at 11 am, at Fairfield United Methodist Church, High Point, with Reverend Oliver W. Helsabeck and Reverend Barry Lemons officiating. Interment will be private. Her family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall on Wednesday, from 10 until 10:45 am
