Mark Y. Small

Mark Y. Small, 47, of Archdale, passed away Saturday, December 2, 2017.

Born August 1, 1970, in High Point, Mark was the son of James Milton and Faie Morton Small. He was preceded in death by his father, his brother, James Gregory Small, and his brother-in-law, Rickie Keith Holt. Mark was an accomplished welder and could fix anything mechanical. He loved hunting, fishing and bluegrass music, and was especially talented at playing the banjo, the fiddle and the dulcimer. Mark was a fun-loving son, brother, uncle and friend, and will be greatly missed.

Mark is survived by his mother, Faie Morton Small, of Archdale; sister, Yolanda Small Holt, of Thomasville, nieces, Brittany Holt Gobble and husband, Matthew, of Spring Lake, and Courtney Holt Cardwell and husband, Brent, of Thomasville; a great niece, Ricci Gobble; and two great nephews, Mason Gobble and Jacob Cardwell. Also surviving are his long-time companion, Johnnie Ellen Proctor, and his three best buds, Shannon Queen, Darren Worrell and Shawn McDowell.

A memorial service will be 6:30 p.m. Thursday, at Glenola Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Tim Steen. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church sanctuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Glenola Baptist Church.
