Nellie Louise (Copple) Smith

ARCHDALE - Nellie Louise Copple Smith, 88, died Monday, June 19, 2017, at GrayBrier Nursing and Retirement Center.

She was born July 16, 1928, in Asheboro and was the daughter of the late Earle R. and Clara Pierce Copple.  She retired from Acme Sample Books after 24 years of service and was a member of English Road Baptist Church where she had been active with the West End Ministry and secretary of her Sunday school class.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James M. Smith; a son, Harold Lee Smith; a great-granddaughter, Jessica Marie Hall; a sister, Earlene Buffington; and a brother, Joe Copple.

She is survived by a son, Danny Smith and his wife, Judy, of Greensboro; a daughter-in-law, Joyce Irene Smith of Conway, SC; a sister, Margie Wolfe and her husband, Richard, of Trinity; a brother, Rev. Ron Copple and his wife, Kathy, of Denton; five grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral service celebrating Nellie’s life will be held 11:00 AM Friday, June 23, 2017, at English Road Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Jim Summey officiating.  Burial will follow at Floral Garden Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday at Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale.
