Robert William "Bobby" Zimmerman

ARCHDALE-Robert William “Bobby” Zimmerman, 79, passed away on Monday, March 20, 2017.

He was born on June 13, 1937 in Davidson County, son of the late William David and Sallie Juanita Gooch Zimmerman. A resident of this area all of his life, he retired from Billings Transfer of Lexington, after 34 years of service, and he was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church in Thomasville.  Bobby enjoyed hunting, gardening, riding his tractor and traveling; especially to the coast. His true love and passion was spending time with his friends and family, and talking and telling stories. In addition to his parents, preceding him in death were his brothers, Joseph and Johnny Zimmerman, his sister, Mary Markham and his step brother, W.D. Zimmerman.

He leaves to cherish his memory; his wife of 61 years, Nancy Hayes Zimmerman; his children, Roger Zimmerman and his wife Cindy, Vickie Ferguson and her husband Roger, David Zimmerman and his wife Pam.; his sister, Betty Childress; 8 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

A service to celebrate  Bobby’s life will be held on Friday, March 24, at 2 pm, in the Chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale, with Reverend Dr. W.A. “Junior” Seawell officiating. Interment will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park. His family will receive friends on Thursday, March, 23, from 6 until 8 pm, at the funeral home.
