Roland Gene Wright

Mr. Roland Gene Wright, 80, of Archdale, passed away Saturday, July 15, 2017, at his residence.

Born December 9, 1936, in Asheville, Roland was the son of the late Marion Edward and Willa Mae Hyde Wright. Roland was retired from Woodmark Originals, where he had worked for 33 years, and was a member of Fairfield Baptist Church. He was a member of the High Point Amateur Radio Club, and enjoyed wood working. On August 13, 1983, he was married to Marian Davis Johnston Wright, who preceded him in death on October 5, 2011. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Ed Wright, Jr.

Survivors include five children, Michael Johnston and wife, Connie, of High Point, Lorie Beck and husband, Stan, of Thomasville, Wayne Johnston and wife, JoAnn, of Seagrove, Benny Johnston and wife, Lovie, of Denton, and Eddie Johnston; a niece, Christy Wright Hurley and husband, Tom, of Salisbury, MD; cousins, Von, Pat and Illa; and ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Funeral will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale, officiated by Rev. J.C. Alley. Interment will follow in Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 6 until 8 at the funeral home.
