Shirley Burnette Denny

SOPHIA-Shirley Burnette Denny, 79, passed away on Saturday, August 5, 2017.

She was born on March 26, 1938 in Franklin County, NC to the late William and Frances Morton Burnette. A resident of this area most of her life, she was a retired employee of the High Point Police Department, having worked in the records division. She was a member of Mt. Olive Wesleyan Church. Shirley enjoyed country and gospel music, shopping, and her dogs and cats. Her true love and passion was spending time with her family; especially her great granddaughter, Avalynn. She was a loving mother; grandmother, great grandmother and sister and will be dearly missed. In addition to her parents, preceding her in death were; a brother, John Burnette and 2 sisters, Nellie Macrini and Pearl White.

She leaves to cherish her memory; her daughters, Jill King and her husband Lee and Sharon Hill and her husband Chuck; her son, Matt Denny; her brothers, Calvin Burnette, Gene Burnette and his wife Geneva, William Burnette and his wife Mary Ann; her sisters, Hazel Haynes, Marjorie Finch and her husband Kimball, and Ruby Poole. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Zachary, Joshua, Skylar, Kristin and Matthew; her great grandchildren, Avalynn and Jake.

A service to celebrate her life will be held on Tuesday, August 8, at 6 pm, in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale, with Reverend Roger Carmichael officiating. Her family will receive friends following the service until 8 pm.
