Shirley Stinson Stanley

COLFAX- Shirley Stinson Stanley, 81, passed away on January 7, 2018.

She was born on February 3, 1936 in High Point to the late Leon and Viva Galimore Stinson. A resident of this area all of her life, she retired from Drexel Heritage. Shirley was a longtime active member of Calvary United Methodist Church (now Covenant Church United Methodist), having joined when she was a young girl. She enjoyed traveling; especially going on cruises, and ironing. Her true love and passion was taking care of her husband, Buck, and spending time with her family.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be dearly missed. In addition to her parents, preceding her in death was a step daughter, Penny Harrelson.

She leaves to cherish her memory; her husband of 40 years Clarence “Buck” Stanley; her sons, Don Adams and his wife Sherry, Scott Adams and his wife Dianne; her grandchildren, Jayson Adams and his wife Mitzi, Kenny Adams and his wife Crystal, Ryan Adams and his wife Nina; her great grandchildren, Jasper, Gage, Alexis, Cameron, Henry and Emily. Also surviving are her step son, Jimmy Stanley and his wife Sharon; her step daughter, Becky Cantrell and her husband Khris; her step grandchildren, Sarah, Matthew, Chris and his wife Casey, Mandy and her husband Chris; and her step great grandchildren, Tristan, Cameron, Dominic, Michael, Tyler and Caleb.

A service to celebrate Shirley’s life will be held on Thursday, January 11, at 2 pm, in the Chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale, with Reverend Michelle Foster Beckerleg officiating. Interment will be private. Her family will receive friends on Thursday from 12:45 until 1:45 pm at the funeral home.
