Mrs. Stella Mae Sanders Broadway, 94, formerly of High Point, died July 1, 2017 at River Landing at Sandy Ridge.
Mrs. Broadway was born January 10, 1923 in Wilkes County, a daughter to the late Henry Edward and Hattie Warren Sanders. A resident of this area most of her life, she was a member of Lexington Ave. Baptist Church and worked as a machine operator at Adams-Millis Hosiery. She also worked in the cafeteria at Northwest Middle School and, during World War II, worked for the Schawe – Gerwin Shoe Company in Indiana. Her biggest job, however, was homemaker and mother. On March 15, 1941 she married her husband of 67 years, Numa Reid Broadway, who preceded her in death in 2009. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by her daughter, Phyllis Ann Broadway; three sisters, Ruby Crabb, Edna Virginia Hayes and Pansy Cranford; and three brothers, Reely “Ed” Warren, William Saunders and James Billings.
Surviving are daughters, Judy Morgan of High Point, Linda Wise and husband Joe of High Point and Robin Broadway-Tuttle and husband Jon of Stokesdale; a grandson, Eric Wise of High Point; a granddaughter, Brandi Morgan of High Point; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of the Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
