Veronica Marcella Johnson

Lexington – Veronica Marcella (Marcie) Johnson was born on May 11, 1964. After many years of recurring illnesses, she peacefully left the struggle behind on August 13, 2017.

Born in High Point, NC, she was dearly loved by her parents, John R. and the late Jewell Pierce Johnson of Trinity. Her older brother, Michael Pierce, also preceded her in death.

Marcie is survived by her loving companion of 30 years, Bruce Hayes, of Lexington, NC. She will also be missed by her aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who loved her so much.

Marcie attended Hobe Sound Bible School in Hobe Sound, Florida and graduated from Wesleyan Christian Academy in High Point. As a toddler, she discovered the love of lipstick that would be characteristic of her unmistakable sense of fashion. She was a curious and fun-loving little girl; a vivacious and determined young woman who remained a kid at heart. With an engaging smile, innate business sense and a sincere desire to serve and help, Marcie joined Bruce in building a loyal clientele at Hayes Jewelers.

She loved and welcomed the little dogs that became a special part of her life and she looked forward to Sundays when she would attend church with her Dad. She was loved by family, friends and customers who will greatly miss her.

A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at the Poplar Ridge Friends Meeting located at 3673 Hoover Hill Rd., Trinity, NC officiated by Pastor Dave Mercadante. Burial will follow the service in the cemetery.

There will be a receiving of friends starting at 12:30 at Poplar Ridge Friends Meeting.
