Virginia Jones Elmore

SOPHIA-Virginia Jones Elmore, 77, passed away on Wednesday, June 7, 2017.

She was born on July 26, 1939 in Surry County, to the late Marvin and Flora Shaw Jones. A resident of this area most of her life, she was a retired employee of Ashley Manor Furniture and was a member of Charity Baptist Church. Virginia loved taking care of her family; whether she was taking them to their ballgames, doctor’s appointments, or cooking a meal for them. She never met a stranger and was always willing to help anyone in need; whether they were sick, needed a place to stay, or sewing for Guil-Rand Fire Department.  In addition to her parents, preceding her in death were her husband, Jimmy Elmore and a son, Ricky Elmore.

She leaves to cherish her memory; her son, Dwight Elmore; her daughter in-law, Teresa Elmore; her sister, Jane Hawkins; her brother, Jimmy Jones and wife Ann; her grandchildren, Brian Elmore and wife Cheryl, Shasta Steed and husband Justin; her great grandchildren, Emma, Mason and Carter Steed and in the near future twins, Finn and Ryleigh Elmore.

A service to celebrate Virginia’s life will be held on Saturday, June 10, at 11 am, from the graveside at Guilford Memorial Park, with Pastor Elton Wilborne officiating. Her family will receive friends on Saturday from 9:15 until 10:15 am at Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale.
