Wanda Pardue Riggins

Archdale-Wanda Pardue Riggins, 84, passed away on Thursday, September 28, 2017.

She was born on June 30, 1933 in Wilkes County, to the late C.B. and Lilly Adams Pardue and she had been a resident of this area most of her life. She worked with her family at the former Grill 57, and later with Tommy’s Oil Company. Wanda enjoyed crocheting, crossword puzzles and playing scrabble. She also enjoyed her flower garden; especially her roses, and bird watching. Her true love and passion was spending time with her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great- great grandmother and sister and she will be dearly missed. In addition to her parents, preceding her in death were her husband, Tommy Riggins, Sr.; a son, Ronald Vanhoy; a granddaughter, Nicole Vanhoy and several brothers and sisters.

She leaves to cherish her memory; her children, Gail Watkins and her husband Henry of Abingdon, VA, Ricky Williams of Archdale, and Tommy Riggins and his wife Tammy of Trinity; her sisters, Esther Hilton, Mary Highfill and Ruby Proctor. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Henry Watkins, Jr., Tammy Turner, Luke Riggins, Andrea Jones and R.J. Vanhoy, and a number of great grandchildren and great –great grandchildren.

A service to celebrate Wanda’s life will be held on Sunday, October 1, at 2 pm, from the graveside in GuilRand Memorial Park Cemetery, with Rusty Parsons, Minister of Archdale Friends Meeting, officiating. Her family will receive friends on Saturday, September 30, from 6 until 8 pm at Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale and other times will be at the home of her son, Tommy Riggins.
