Mr. Barry Osborne Hines, 68, went to his heavenly home on Sunday, October 5, 2014 after a short and courageous battle with cancer. Barry was loved by all who knew him. He was a hard worker who, in his free time, could be found working in his yard, tinkering on his 1960 Chevy impala with his nephew Mike, and making memories with his family. Barry was employed as a driver with Old Dominion Freight Line. He attended Bales Wesleyan Church in Jamestown all his life and will be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother and friends to all. He married the former Ellen DeHart of Hayesville on August 14, 1964 and they just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. They were truly best friends and soul mates. In addition to his wife of Jamestown, surviving are three children, Rick Hines of Uwharrie, Kristie Hutchinson and husband Chris of Denton and Beth Roberts and husband Drew of Asheboro. He was a loving Pappaw to Zachary, Hailey, Adam, Charlie and Ella as well as a wonderful brother and uncle. Also surviving is a sister, Bonnie Hamilton and husband Pete of Jamestown; and two brothers, Darrell Hines and wife Colleen of High Point and Bruce Hines and wife Helen of Jamestown. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robie and Frances Hines and a brother, Bobby Larry. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Bales Memorial Wesleyan Church with Pastor Carl Pulliam officiating. Interment will follow at Mitchell’s Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point and other times at the residence. Memorials may be directed to Bales Memorial Wesleyan Church, 1001 Bales Chapel Rd. Jamestown, NC 27282.
