She is survived by her beloved children; daughter, Karen Young Barrett and husband Clifton (Cliff) T. Barrett of Greensboro, son, James (Jim) Marshall Young and wife Elizabeth (Beth) C. Ida, also known to many as “Marsha”, was born on September 19, 1920 in Sylvatus, VA.  She was the seventh of ten children born to Samuel T. and Tulie Ann Marshall.  Following graduation, she moved to High Point to attend beautician school and started work in a local hair salon. She relocated to Connecticut to work for the Rilling Company, which at that time was pioneering a new hair perming process.  While with Rilling, she traveled to salons throughout the country in a sales and training capacity.  Rilling was subsequently acquired by Revlon.  She returned to High Point, and through the years would own and operate four different hair salons in the city; West End Beauty Shop, Hamilton Street Salon of Beauty, Marshall’s on Emerywood Court, and Normandy.  She eventually elected to devote her time and talents to being a full time wife, mother, and homemaker.

Ida was a member of Green Street Baptist Church for 60 years.  She served as a Sunday school teacher and is currently a member of Gloria Kennett class.  She deeply cherished the close, lifelong friendships and support developed through her church, neighborhood, professional, and volunteer associations.
