Mr. Julian Harvey Glenn, 83, of High Point, died Tuesday, April 05, 2011, at the Hospice Home at High Point.
Born August 27, 1927, in High Point, he was the son of the late Lester Wade and Giddye Duncan Glenn. He was a veteran of the US Army and was of the Baptist faith. He owned and operated Glenn Sewing Machine Company which his father founded in 1924. In the early 60s, Julian was a pioneer in the embroidering and monogramming industry and developed several patents in that field. He was a hard worker and was active with the business until November 2010, and was well known and respected throughout local upholstery businesses. He was also an avid exerciser and enjoyed walking.
On March 8, 1949, he married the former Glendora Eller who survives of the home. Also surviving are three children, Janice Cardin, of Jamestown, Susie Frazier and husband, Craig, of High Point, and Doug Glenn and wife, Rhonda, of Wallburg; two grandchildren, Jamie Moreno and husband, Lucas, and Jay Glenn; and a sister, Hazel Long, of High Point.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point officiated by Rev. J. David Hill, PhD. The family will receive friends following the service.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Dr. George Sanders and the staff of Emerywood Hematology/Oncology for their care and support during Mr. Glenn’s illness.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to the High Point Regional Healthcare System Foundation Cancer Center, PO Box HP-5, High Point, NC 27261.
