HIGH POINT- Mrs. Lillian (Craig) Poe, 97, passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at Piedmont Crossing in Thomasville, NC.
Mrs. Poe was born on September 3, 1918 in Sanford, NC a daughter of the late James Leonard Craig and Carrie Lillian (Pendergrass) Craig. Throughout her life she volunteered at many organizations, especially at church and city hospitals where she lived.
She was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church of High Point and a former member of Holy Cross United Methodist Church in Reading, PA where she was a past president of the Women’s Society of Christian Service.
She was the loving wife and best friend of the late Henry C. Poe, former President of PGA America, who preceded her on March 13, 2005. On Tuesday they were reunited in heaven and are certainly playing golf together.
A wonderful mother, grandmother, and sister, Mrs. Poe is survived by two sons, James “Jim” C. Poe and his wife, Janet of High Point, and William Clay Poe and his wife, Sue Eileen Hayes of Santa Rosa, CA; four grandchildren, Lynda Talgo and her husband, Eric of San Carlos, CA, Elizabeth “Beth” Poe of Lexington, Anaraquel Poe and Tita Poe, both of Santa Rosa, CA; five great grandchildren; two sisters, Carrie Lynn Smith of Sanford, and Shirley Mutter of Durham; a brother, Bill Craig and his wife, Mary Lou of Lake Junaluska; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A private service will be held at the Columbarium at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Open Door Ministries, 400 North Centennial Street, High Point, NC 27262 or Salvation Army, Resource Development, P.O. Box 241808, Charlotte, NC 28224.
