Mr. Alfred Floyd Davis, 87, of Sophia, passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at the W.G. Hefner V.A. Medical Center in Salisbury.
Born March 11, 1931, in Guilford County, Alfred was the son of the late Thomas and Ruby Cole Davis. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife Annie Mae Chaney Davis, and brothers, John, Eugene, Dalmer, and Lee Davis. Alfred was a veteran of the US Army and served during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a machinist and later as a security guard at High Point University. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing.
He is survived by five children, Al F. Davis, Jr. and wife, Laura, of Sophia, Kenneth W. Nixon, and wife, Sylvia, of Kernersville, Carl R. Freeman, of Sophia, Connie S. Goode and J’nell Carr, both of Archdale; six grandchildren, Michael Davis, Misty Godwin, Melissa Higgins, Amy Freeman, Chaz Freeman, and Ray Freeman; and nine great grandchildren.
Funeral will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 28th, in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, in Archdale, officiated by Rev. Anthony Greene. Interment will follow in Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
