Allen Thomas McDaniel

Allen Thomas McDaniel, 90, beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away November 10, 2017 surrounded by his family. 

Allen was born January 11, 1927, the oldest of nine children born to the late Fred and Veltie McDaniel.  On November 22, 1952 he married Donise Smith who preceded him in death  December 8, 2012 and was truly the love of his life.  He was the consummate family man and his family will cherish their memories of a kind and loving father, a patient and wise grandfather, and a loving great-grandfather.

Allen worked at Adams-Millis for 46 years; most of his co-workers there knew him as "Mack".   He continued to make socks for family and friends for many years, in what he dubbed his "back yard knitting company"  that he named Mac-Knit Socks.  

Immediate survivors are  daughter Connie Laster (husband Randy), granddaughters Sarah and  Meredith (Johnny) and great-granddaughter Ava.  He is also survived by three sisters and three brothers - Lucy, Mary, Margaret, Hal, Aaron and Paul.  Sister Mildred and brother Walter preceded him in death.  He also leaves to cherish his memory numerous nieces and nephews, Adams-Millis friends that he has known most of his life, and wonderful new friends he met since his move to River Landing in August 2015. 

Allen was a member of Abbotts Creek Missionary Baptist Church, where a service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:30 p.m.  Monday, November 13 with Reverend Mark Hollar officiating.  The family will receive friends beginning one hour prior to the service in the church parlor.  Interment will follow the service at Floral Garden Park Mausoleum.
