Ashley Brianne Whaby

Ashley Whaby was born on August 1st, 1998 at UNC Hospital in Orange County, North Carolina. On October 8th, 2021, she passed away at the young age of twenty-three in Greensboro, North Carolina. Ashley lived with her Nana and Pop, Debbie and Tony Peeden in Browns Summit, North Carolina.

She will be lovingly remembered by grandparents, Debbie and Tony Peeden, grandfather, Robert Whaby, grandmother, Barbara Stewart, mother, Angie Whaby, and preceded in death by her father, Richard L. Stewart; and grandfather, Lee J. Stewart. She will also be dearly missed by her sisters, Nicki Stewart, Melissa Stewart, Hayley Patterson, and Kayla Stanley, and brother, Brandon Stewart, as well as aunt and uncle, Aubrey Bruck and Zach Peeden.

When Ashley was a child, her favorite things to do was drink chocolate milk and follow around her aunt and uncle, Aubrey and Zach. Her favorite activities growing up were getting her nails done, shopping and spending time with her best friends by her grandparents swimming pool. Ashley was famous for calling her grandparents and inquiring about how their day had been going and what their plans were for the rest of the week. Ashley had a curious mind and wanted to be involved in every aspect of her loved one’s lives. Her heart was as big as her smile and her presence always had a lasting impression.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 16, in the chapel of the Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service.  The family asks that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Freedom House at P.O. Box 38215, Greensboro, NC 27438, which is a Christ centered recovery program for women coming out of addiction in memory of Ashley.
