TRINITY-Audrey Bryan Atkins, 85, entered into eternal rest surrounded by her family on Friday, January 4, 2019. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great- grandmother and will be missed dearly.
She was born on September 17, 1933 in Guilford County, to the late Johnny and Rosa Mae Allred Bryan. A resident of this area all of her life, she was a graduate of Allen Jay High School. Audrey, along with her late husband, Reverend Wayne Atkins, co-owned Atkins Upholstery. Her parents and husband preceded her in death.
She attended Thomasville Church of God and enjoyed many church activities over the years. Audrey also enjoyed being outdoors; whether it was working in her garden or in her flowers. Her true love and passion was spending time with her family.
Audrey’s life can best be described in Proverbs 31. With eager hands, she worked tirelessly to provide for her family and to serve others. Always faithful in prayer, she could be counted on to lift her family and others up to ask for God’s blessings. Proverbs 31:30-31: “Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate”
She is survived by her children, Ken Atkins and his wife, Barbara, Teresa Huffman and her husband, Bruce; her grandchildren, Michael Atkins, Jeff Atkins and his wife, Candy, and Rachel Huffman: her great grandchildren, Dalton Atkins, Joshua Atkins and his wife, Casey, and Jessica Atkins, and her great-great- grandchildren, Hunter Atkins and Levi Atkins.
A service to celebrate Audrey’s life will held on Tuesday afternoon, January 8, at 2 o’clock, in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale, with Reverend Rick Wilkie officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview United Methodist Church Cemetery. Her family will receive friends on Tuesday afternoon, from 12:30 until 1:45 at the funeral home.
Memorials in Audrey’s memory may be made to the Salvation Army of High Point & Center of Hope Family Shelter, 301 West Green Street, High Point, NC 27263.
