Audrey Ella Gray Culler

November 17, 1927 ~ February 6, 2018 (age 90) 90 Years Old

Audrey Ella Gray Culler, 90, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2018 at Providence Place, where she last resided.   .

Audrey was born November 17, 1927, in Kernersville, NC, a daughter to the late Charles Wilson and Bertha Sechrest Gray. A graduate of Colfax High School, she graduated from McClung’s Business College in Greensboro, NC in 1945. She married Lester Lee Culler on December 23, 1951 and the marriage was blessed with two daughters, Leslie Joan Culler and Terri Lynette Culler.

As a resident of High Point most of her life, she was a faithful member of Abbotts Creek Missionary Baptist Church from 1963 until her health no longer permitted her to attend. There she taught Sunday School and Bible School in her younger adult years. She was employed by Guilford County Schools (formerly High Point Public Schools) where she worked as a Media Assistant in the Media department until her retirement in 1993. Upon her retirement she was active in various activities through the Roy Culler Senior Center and was a charter member of Happytones Chorus. She was a member of the Tarheel Cloggers for many years and performed throughout the local area. Audrey’s love for her Lord, her church, and her family were the driving forces in her life. Remaining cheerful and happy and always finding humor in life made her a blessing to many, even in her last days.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her only sister, Irene Gray Lewis and granddaughter Laura Bodenheimer.

Leaving to cherish her memories are her daughters, Joan Bodenheimer and husband Tony of Denver, NC and Terri Newton and husband William ‘Bill’ of Trinity. NC; a granddaughter Melanie Butler and husband Hunter of Cary, NC; a grandson Justin Bost and wife Ashley of Greensboro, NC; and two great grandchildren, Harrison and Amelia Butler. Also surviving are nieces, Linda Blackburn and Janice Thompson; great nieces, Susan Dougherty and husband Sean, Lisa Chrystie and husband David, and Jessica Bridges and husband Mark; great-great nieces, Morgan and Meredith Chrystie, Rachel and Molly Dougherty; and great-great nephew, Grayson Bridges.
