Barbara Ann (Meredith) Peters

Mrs. Barbara Meredith Peters, 82, formerly of High Point, died July 23, 2018 at Cross Road Retirement Community in Asheboro.

She was born December 17, 1935 in High Point, the daughter of Carey W. and Etta Lou Snider Meredith. She was a resident of High Point all her life where, together with her husband, Fred Arnold Peters, they raised their four daughters.  Our precious Mother was a homemaker all her life, caring for us, and only began working outside the home when the youngest daughter entered high school.  We enjoyed a life of home cooked meals and the stability of knowing that Mom was always there for us.  After caring for us, she enjoyed caring for the children of others.  She began working in student services at High Point University and remained for several years, being a "second mom" to many students.  After leaving High Point University, she worked at the Wesleyan Education Center in High Point for over 30 years.

Surviving are daughters, Joni Porter, Jamie (Tim) Childress, Kim Hackett and Dana Peters; grandchildren, Travis Porter, Carrie Childress, Mark Childress (Kathy Belcher, fiancé), Kinsley (Frankie) Nix and Sonny (Kristin) Hackett; and great-grandchildren, Landon and Gavin Hackett.  She maintained lifelong contact with her niece, Deena (Allen) Duke and her nephew, David (Robin) French and also treasured the company of several long-time friends and close neighbors.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Meredith French and Joyce Meredith Dixon.

Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of the Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale with Chaplin Bernie Raymond officiating.  Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in High Point.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service Sunday at the funeral home.  Condolences may be made through www.cumbyfuneral.com.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice of Randolph County, P.O.
