Barbara Jean (Cranford) Tyner

Barbara Jean Cranford Tyner, 83, passed away on Monday, September 20, 2021, at her residence.  She was born May 19, 1938, in Guilford County; was the daughter of the late Roy Thomas Cranford and Helen Grissom Cranford.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Jill Tyner Liston and her brother, Roy T. Cranford, Jr.

Barbara graduated from High Point Central High School where she also participated in the National Honors Chorus in Washington, DC.  She enjoyed cooking, especially baking, shopping, catering for the furniture market, and was an avid Jimmie Johnson and NASCAR racing fan, “OOOOH!! My Jimmie Johnson”.  She was a dedicated employee of 38 years for the Piedmont Ford Truck Center in Greensboro, NC.  Barbara was a lifetime member of Green Street Baptist Church where she was a member of the Church Choir and also served in the Ladies Ministry, Fellowship Ministry and Food Ministries.

Barbara is survived by her son, Joe Edwards (Pam); daughter, Cindy Gibbons; sisters, Joan Parham and June French; five grandchildren, Sarah Bundy (Scott), Josh Edwards (Lisa), Graham Tyner (Sarah), John Edwards (Faithe), Courtney Edwards, and four great-grandchildren, Kyra Edwards, Scarlett Bundy, Blake Edwards and Christian Edwards.

A funeral service celebrating Barbara’s life will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, September 26, 2021 at Green Street Baptist Church in High Point with Rev. Brandon Ware officiating.  Burial will follow at Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery.  The family will receive guests at the church on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m.
