THOMASVILLE – Bennie Erwin Rich, 79, formerly of High Point died Thursday, March 28, 2024, at Piedmont Crossing in Thomasville.
He was born April 18, 1944, in Asheboro and was the son of the late Garth Erwin and Eula Hilliard Rich. He retired from 3M Company following more than thirty-five years of service and attended Mt. Pleasant Church in Thomasville. Bennie was a friend to everyone who never met a stranger and was known for his well-defined laugh. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed golf.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Janice Rich Webb Barrington.
Bennie is survived by his wife, Jo Anne Gray Rich, whom he married on October 7, 1967; daughter, Holly Ferree (Joey) of Wallburg; son, Daniel Rich (April) of Thomasville; and three grandchildren, Garrett Rich, Emeline Rich and Ansley Ferree.
Funeral service celebrating Bennie’s life will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at Mt. Pleasant Church (6516 Old Greensboro Road, Thomasville) with Pastor Chris Clontz officiating. Burial will follow at Guilford Memorial Park in Greensboro.
The family will receive friends from 12:45 to 1:45 PM Tuesday at the church prior to the service.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date at Piedmont Crossing in Thomasville.
