Bertha Briggs Simmons

HIGH POINT- Bertha Briggs Simmons, 91, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, June 7, 2021.

She was born on October 17, 1929 in Person County, NC, a daughter of the late James and Allie Wilson Briggs.  A resident of High Point most of her life, she was a longtime and oldest member of Bethel Baptist Church. Bertha enjoyed crafting, cooking and gardening; especially working in her flowers, and spending time with her family. She loved her Lord, her family and her friends and she will be dearly missed. In addition to her parents, preceding her in death were her husband, Ralph Simmons; a son, Donnie Simmons; 4 brothers and 2 sisters.

She leaves to cherish her memory; her daughter, Kim Robbins and her husband, Dale; her son, Mark Simmons and his wife, Angie; her sister, Everline Aldridge and her husband, Winky. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Jason, Tasha, Chris, and Kyndall; her great grandchildren, Brandon, Haley, Ethan, and Jacob and her great-great grandson, Luke.

A service to celebrate Bertha’s life will be held on Thursday morning, June 10, at 11:00 a.m., in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale, with Pastor Roy Green officiating. The committal service will follow in Randolph Memorial Park, Asheboro. Her family will receive friends on Thursday morning, from 9:45 until 10:45 a.m., at the funeral home.
