Betty Sue (Newby) Parker

Betty Sue Newby Parker, 93, of Fort Mill, SC, and formerly of High Point, passed away on May 12, 2019 at her home. 

She was born in Davidson County, NC, to the late Mary Ethel and John (Jack) Newby.  She attended High Point City Schools, High Point College, and taught in the High Point City Schools until her retirement in 1987.  She was a lifelong member of Pleasant Grove UMC.

Betty was preceded in death by her sister, Lucille Smith, brothers Waldo (Mike) Newby, Arnold Newby, Henry Newby, Jay Newby and Fred Newby.  She was also preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Sandra Parker.

Betty is survived by her husband of 72 years, John Henry Parker; her children Michael Parker of Charlotte, NC, and Amanda Newhouse and husband John of Fort Mill, SC, 5 grandsons, 7 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Funeral will be 3:00 p.m., Thursday, May 16, 2019, at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. John Stein and Rev. Joe Parker. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00 until 2:45 in the church fellowship hall.
