Betty Jean (Jobe) Rouse

Betty Jean Jobe Rouse, 86, very peacefully passed from her earthly life into her eternal life on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Westchester Manor in High Point.

Betty was born August 10, 1932 in McLeansville, North Carolina to the late John Blake Jobe and Barbara Cobb Jobe.  In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by four brothers, Horrice, Elmore, Gurlie and John Jobe and four sisters, Carrie Boyd, Lucille Baldwin, Estelle Wood, and Flora Clapp.

Betty was a dedicated member of her church, Aletheia Fellowship.  Her Christian faith was evidenced in all aspects of her life.  She strived to please her Lord and Savior by treating everyone as Christ would treat them.  Her family is a testimony to her Christian walk in following in her footsteps to serve Jesus as their Lord.  She was compassionate and caring of others and wanted everyone to know her Savior and be saved.

Betty was a devoted wife to her husband of 63 years, Donald Earl Rouse .Betty is also survived by her children, Donna Rouse Phelps and husband, Donny of Apex, Barbara Rouse Smith and husband, Tommy of High Point, and Rodney Earl Rouse and wife, Kristin of Madison; grandchildren, Ashley Lucero (Ryan), Blake Smith (Becca), Chad Smith, Brooke Smith, Brittany Rouse and Maycie Rouse; great-grandchildren, Hayley Lucero and Hudson Smith; sisters, Ada Williams, and Delsie Kilday (Tim).

She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family will fondly remember her home cooked meals and home baked cherry pies.  She had a “green thumb” that could perk up any plant and make it thrive.  Betty has a strong work ethic that she passed on to her children.

The family will greet friends from 1:00 until 1:45pm at Cumby Family Funeral Service, 1015 Eastchester Drive in High Point on Wednesday, January 16, 2018, followed by a celebration of Betty’s life at 2:00pm in the Chapel.  Pastor Jeff Cates will be officiating and burial will follow at Guilford Memorial Park.
