Betty Neal Spencer

HIGH POINT- Betty Neal Spencer, 79, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, October 22, 2020.

She was born on February 6, 1941 in High Point, a daughter of the late Albert and Bertie Dorsett Neal. A resident of this area all her life she had worked for Silver Knit and Rice Hosiery Mill, and later owned and operated 11 Acre Flea Market in Thomasville. She was a longtime active member of Oak Hill Friends Meeting. Betty enjoyed dressing up and going out; especially shopping. Her true love and passion was spending time with her family. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother and will be dearly missed. In addition to her parents, preceding her in death was a son, Dean Holdaway.

She leaves to cherish her memory; her husband, Forest Spencer; her sons, Perry Holdaway and his wife, Michelle, Dale Holdaway and his wife, Karen, Neal Holdaway and his fiancé, Millie McGinnis; her step children, Vaughn Pope and his wife, Shannon and Tara Pope Gasque; her brother, Jerry Neal and his wife, Linda; her sister, Diane Cavin and her husband, Mike and a number of very special grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A service to celebrate Betty’s life will be held on Wednesday morning, October 28, at 11 o’clock, at Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale, with Pastor John Sides and Pastor Randy Quate officiating. The committal service will follow at Poplar Ridge Friends Meeting Cemetery. Her family will receive friends on Wednesday morning, from 10 until 10:45, at the funeral home.
