Betty Lou (Hornady) Turnage

Mrs. Betty Lou Hornady Turnage, 80, of High Point, passed away Wednesday, November 8, 2017, following declining health.
Born March 11, 1937, in Guilford County, Betty was the daughter of the late Wesley and Rosa Beck Hornady. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, David Allen Turnage, daughter, Angela Dawn Turnage, granddaughter, Melanie Dawn Sheetz, son-in-law, Keith Ronald Sheetz, and seven siblings. Betty had been a member of Allendale Baptist Church since 1971, and formerly taught Sunday School there. She was active in her community having been a member of the Civitans and serving on P.T.A. committees. She loved working on arts and crafts for church related activities and was best known for her love of flowers.
Betty is survived by three children, Diane Sheetz, of Clemmons, Tim Turnage and wife, Velma, of Lexington, and David Turnage, and wife, Imelda, of Gold River, CA; two grandchildren, Sarah Sheetz Byrd and husband, Daniel, and Phillip Andrew Turnage and wife, Whitney; two great grandchildren, Hannah Grace Turnage and Connor Keith Byrd; and a brother, Ronald Lee “Cotton” Hornady and wife, Pamela, of Thomasville.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, at Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery, officiated by Rev. David Younger. The family will receive friends Monday night from 6 until 8 at Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale, and following the service at Betty’s residence.
